What about migrating to some better forum engine ?

regarding all these spam problems, registration issues... I think it is maybe time to do some update

Do you know some great lightweight forum engine that we could use instead of PunBB ?
So far, i was thinking about Vanilla, but all suggestions are really welcome.

phpBB (http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpbb/) is very nice. I've seen it around quite a lot.

Not that I hate new things but I don't see what is badly wrong with this forum engine. This 'cunny guoi' ass who posts his video crap, who cares about him?

I'm not aware of the work involved in migrating all older post - there is something very nice about this forum, it is that regularly someone picks up a real old post and makes a follow up. I would regret losing that.

Re: What about migrating to some better forum engine ?

Hey neko, i rather agree with ultrasonic. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to have some subcategories to for instance the technical issue topic? It looks that many people are always looking for the same kind of topics (presets storing, table related topics, message handling,...) and it would be nice for newcommers to retrieve information about certain topics fast instead of asking for something again which has been extensively posted... Or maybe some kind of supplementary tagging system. But then again, things run fine the way they are of course and making things more complicated isn't always better...

Anyway, thx for keeping this forum running and all the best for 2010.

D.
